2014 NDSU athletics recap
2014 NDSU Athletics in review:
Bison Athletics had another astounding year with the Bison Football team ending the year with a stunning 15-1 record after overcoming the loss of losing 23 seniors and 11 starting players from the previous year. on top of their impressive record, they took home their 4th consecutive FCS championship title, as well as their 4th straight Missouri valley football conference championship. The bison football team also had 10 All-Missouri Valley Football conference players.
the Bison women’s soccer team finished their season with a record of 8-8-2, they went on to place 4th in the summit league, and qualified for the league tournament for the 6th year in a row, which is the longest running streak in their conference.
The Bison Wrestling team didn’t fall short this season either finishing with a record of 9-4, and eventually winning the western conference championship. The Bison wrestling team ended the season 20th in the nation, as well as having 2 of their own wrestlers earn Division I All-American honors.
The Bison women’s volleyball team finished their season with a record of 15-17 and also won their first summit league tournament match in 4 years.
Men’s Cross Country
The Men’s Cross Country team finished 4th overall and went on to take 16th place at the NCAA Midwest Regional, 33 teams attended.
The Bison softball team ended the season with an impressive record of 45-11! They also won the summit league tournament defeating SDSU by 10 runs.
Bison Men’s Basketball
The Mens basketball team made an appearance at this years NCAA tournament for the second consecutive year after claiming another summit league tournament championship all while adapting to a new head coach. The men finished their season with a record of 23-10.
Bison Women’s Basketball
The Bison Women’s Basketball team finished 11-18 and took home a championship while at the Florida Atlantic Thanksgiving Tournament. The Bison Women’s Cross-Country team placed 2nd overall and took 18th our of 35 teams at the NCAA Midwest Regional.
Bison Men’s Track and Field
The Bison Men’s Track and Field team took runner-up at the summit league indoor meet, while taking 1st at the summit league outdoor meet for the 6th consecutive time.
Bison Women’s Track and Field
The Bison Women’s Track and Field team ended 32nd along with winning its eighth consecutive indoor and outdoor track and field championships.
The Bison Baseball team ended the season with record of 20-31.
Bison Women’s Golf
The women’s Golf team ended their season finishing 4th overall while breaking the school’s previous four-player team scoring average in a season with 309.61.
Bison Men’s Golf
The Mens Golf team followed by also finishing 4th overall and grabbing a spot in the summit league championship tournament.
